PUBLIC NOTICE

The Spruce Pine Town Council has issued a Phase 1 Water Shortage Alert. Due to drought conditions, this alert calls for voluntary community water conservation measures. Recommended conservation measures include:

Take shorter showers.
Do not leave the water running while rinsing dishes, shaving or brushing teeth.
Limit car washing. Use a bucket and a hose with a spray attachment.
Add compost and other organic matter to your soil to improve its water-holding capacity.
Keep a pitcher of cold water in the fridge, instead of running tap water until it is cold.
Use a bucket to water your plants, not a hose.
Water lawns in the morning or evening, not in the heat of the day, to prevent evaporation.

Additionally, please repair any water leaks, such as hoses and faucets wherever possible. Notify town officials if you notice possible leaks on Town lines. These voluntary measures are requested until significant rainfall alleviates drought conditions in our area. Thank you for your cooperation.
